For the first time yesterday I saw all three! The bluebells in the wood are just starting to come out, they are much later than last year, and only the brave few is sheltered spots are showing. The violets are the same, a few, at the bottom of the wood, are showing. Every year I say that I must pick some and do them in egg white and sugar - this year I WILL!! As I rode round the long lake yesterday swallows were dipping and flying back and forwards. We only had two Canada geese to chase off, a great improvement on the 20 to 30 in the winter, perhaps they are getting the message!
Having said that we were going to have pouring rain, if you now look at the latest forecast (linked above)it’s not looking so bad. Light rain is often showers and it is going to be much warmer by Saturday -
Although it has been cold and wet and pretty miserable in mid Wales at the start of this season, we have had some lovely people staying. Here is a thank you from Sandy and Peter who were with us last week.
“Just a word of thanks to you all for the wonderful hospitality bestowed on us two ” re-cycled teenagers. The eggs were yummy the bacon was scrummy now you should see the size of our tummies ( well maybe not ) We, Peter and myself wish you all a good summer season, if we have the time we shall try to come back to you later in the year….. One thing I really would like to say is I have spent many holidays in Guernsey lived there for a couple of years and my own personal thoughts of that lovely holiday island………
” If God made heaven on earth He made Guernsey first” now I can add and He made Fforest Fields next”
Again many thanks,
Sandy and Peter, the re-cycled teenagers aged 63 & 64
We just look forward to seeing them again!
George has just come back from the campsite and reports that there is one, cold and rather surprised Fforest swallow flying about. I know, perhaps they are not Fforest swallows, but we like to think of them as ours! The first sighting this year, is it early? I can’t remember, I’m sure that someone will tell me ![]()
I have a wonderful friend from America who sends me a constant supply of jokes and funny emails; the one this morning was the winners of the National Georgraphic photographic competition. There are about 20 amazing pictures but this one made me laugh out loud!!

For the last few days it has been pretty cold, but very beautiful here. None of the snow that Mr. Forecaster told us we’d be getting, except on the tops of the hills, which makes it look lovely. I went riding two days ago and got gently snowed on above about 1200′; the top of the Aberedw Hill. I have just been sent a disc of pictures taken by a friend as he paramotored above the site last August bank holiday - I am going to take them off to Harry for him to make a new album. They will remind us that even last year we had some wonderful weather! We are booking up fast for the second May bank holiday, Whitsun, if you want a hook-up please let me know as soon as you can.
If you like camping and caravanning you will probably love Fforest Fields. We want to help you decide that Fforest Fields is where you want to camp or caravan.
